On the Meditation Trail in the nature reserve of the Ammergau Alps

The objective of meditative walking and hiking is a return to our most natural mode of locomotion. We want you to consciously feel your body in the movement of walking to rediscover our inner source of strength. In conscious walking all feelings of rush and being driven end. The Ammer Valley and the unspoiled stretches of land around it are the perfect background to “go in yourself”. During the tour you discover places of power and will have the chance to attentively experience how your body goes in resonance with them. You are invited to rediscover yourself through tutored body- and breathing-exercises, guided fantasy journeys and meditative impulse.

Tour description:

Day 1 From the Church of Wies to Bad Bayersoien

During the morning we visit the UNESCO World Heritage rococo “Church of Wies”. If you wish, you can attend a pilgrim mass. After a detailed tour of the church you are invited to a meditation session with organ music. “Well tuned” we start our hike after a lunch picnic. Through a landscape of gently rolling hills we walk to Wildsteig and on to Bad Bayersoien. With nightfall we meet for a meditative evening walk around the Lake Soier. We stay overnight in our hotel in Bad Bayersoien. (around 12km)
Day 2 Through the Ammer Gorge to the top of the Hörnle

We start the day with a morning reflection. Afterwards we walk from Bad Bayersoien down to the Ammer Gorge and further on to a nature crafted marvel, the natural monument Schleierfälle (veil falls). The next highlight of the day is the impressive Ammer breakthrough, called Scheibum. Here we want to enjoy our picnic, after which we walk on to the Fatima Chapel of Saulgrub. Our route now leads us to the high marsh Rochusfeld and the Rochus Chapel of Bad Kohlgrub. From here it’s about an hour to the top of the Hörnle at 1500m (4920ft). Before we spend the night in an alpine hut on the Hörnle we together enjoy the sunset with a view of the Alps and their foothills. (around 16km, 1 night in an alpine hut)

Day 3 Passion Play Theatre and Benedictine monastery

Early risers are invited to welcome the day with a sunrise meditation. Our trail brings us back down into the Ammer Valley. In Oberammergau we want to visit the theatre for the world-famous Passion Play and the House of Pilate. In the afternoon we reach the Döttenbichl, an ancient cult place of the Celts. On the Vogelherdweg we soon after arrive in Ettal with its impressive Benedictine monastery. For the evening you are invited to a session of meditative circular dances in the monastery. For this and the following night we stay in a hotel in Ettal. (around 16km, 2 nights)

Day 4 To the royal mansion

After a morning „tuning in“ for the day we leave the cloister village and wander past the mill of Ettal into the nature reserve Weidmoos. Attracted by a marvelous view of the Ammergau Alps we follow our path into the Graswang Valley. We come to the Ammer Springs and reach the Gertrudis Chapel soon after. On the Kohlbach track we slowly close with the target of this day’s hike, the park of Linderhof Palace. After a tour of the world-famous hunting palace of King Ludwig II. our tour goes back to Ettal, where we want to round out the past 4 days, we spent together, with a nice evening social. (around 13km)

Day 5 Back home

Following breakfast we enjoy a guided tour of the baroque abbey church and the impressive monastery complex. Afterwards we get on our way back home, where you may dream of your wonderful days in the Ammergau Alps.
