The term 'Fronleichnam is derived from the old German words vrone lichem: the body of the lord (vron: regarding the religious or worldly lord and lichem 'the body ). Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday (on the 60th day after Easter Sunday). Thursday as the day of celebration has a close relationship with Maundy Thursday and the closely connected introduction of the Eucharist by Jesus Christ himself.
