The magnificent backdrop of the Ammergau Alps is the ideal background for the exhibition: "Myth Bayeria - Forests, Mountains and Royal dreams". The annual Bavarian State Exhibition 2018 of the House of Bavarian History will be held in an ideal location: the beautiful Ettal Abbey in the Ammergau Alps.

Ettal, wll-known for its Baroque basilica and the Rococo sacristy, is surrounded by picturesque mountains and mountain forests. Linderhof Castle, the favorite castle of the fairytale King Ludwig II, is not far away. The triangle of forest, mountains and royal dreams do not only characterizes the Ammergau Alps, it also stands for the ideal picture of Bavaria. The exhibition shows how the Bavarian Alps switched to a cultural place within 1000 years, a place, where unique cultural landscapes, deep-rooted traditions and lived customs are merged into the myth of Bavaria.
In addition to the exhibition on the monastery grounds, the whole region offers attractions and events according to the theme. Forest trails are transformed into adventure trails around the forest and a colorful program of events provides variety.
The Bavarian State Exhibition is open daily from 3 to 4 November 2018 from 9 am to 6 pm. Visitors can also visit Linderhof Castle after the exhibition. The route from Ettal to Linderhof can be covered by e-bike on a hiking trail. And those who still have more time will find true treasures around Ettal - such as the Weidmoos nature reserve or the Ammer springs in the Graswang valley.
