How to reach the Ammergau Alps
The Ammergau Alps can be reached either via
via the end of A95 motorway and continue to Oberau. Here you turn right towards Augsburg. After passing the Ettaler mountain, you reach Ettal - the southern gateway to the Ammergau Alps
continue via Marktoberdorf and Schongau. Then towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the B2 to Bad Bayersoien northern of the Ammergau Alps
first towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen, afterwards follow signs for the A95 / Munich. Turn left in Oberau towards Augsburg. After passing the Ettaler mountain, you reach Ettal - the southern gateway to the Ammergau Alps
With public transport system
The Ammergau Alps are easily accessible by train from Munich. In Murnau, switch trains and take the regional train to Oberammergau (Ammertalbahn) enjoy the fantastic views of the Alps, soon you reach Bad Kohlgrub, Saulgrub, Altenau, Unterammergau and Oberammergau.
From Innsbruck take the train via Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberau. From there, take the local buses direction Füssen.
When landlords allow free bus travel you will receive your electronic guest card before arriving. With this card you can use all local buses of Ammergau Alps without paying a cent - move comfortably without parking stress in the region.
