Follow the forest pathway alongside the Schwarzenbach stream, which you cross at the first opportunity. Turn right to proceed in an easterly direction. After a short ascent, take a right turn to go up into a wood. After crossing a stream, you will come to a path which you follow for a short time having turned left.
You then soon come to a right turn which leads to the village of Holz. The route continues onto Wildsteig. Proceed via Kirchstraße to St. James' Church at the centre of the village. From the church, a footpath leads downhill to the left. Cross the village stream and go up the street on the other side.
At the fork at the top of this road, keep left and continue straight ahead to leave the village. An underpass will take you to the other side of the bypass. Keep right and take a path to the side of the main road that continues for about 1 kilometre. Take a turn-off to the left after about half of this distance.
Follow this trail until you pass a small wood, at which point you turn off right. Following a meadow pathway, you pass a farmstead to the left and go left at the next fork. You will soon se the outskirts of Rottenbuch to your right. Follow the street into the village until you meet the main road. Cross the main road via the pedestrian bridge and then turn left to the abbey.
