Hike – Unterammergau - Altenau - Unternogg

At the end of the gravel path, turn right and cross the railway track. Bear left where the street forks. The route, which attracts very little traffic, climbs steadily for about 1 kilometre. When you reach the highest point, a sunny route leads out onto the B 23.

You, however, take a left beforehand into Wurmansauer Straße and arrive in Altenau via an underpass to the upper main street. Pass through Altenau in a right-hand arc and turn left at the small village pond to head towards Unternogg.

Apart from one small ascent, the road remains level until you reach "Unternogg Forest Lodge", which boasts a public room and a beer garden with level access. It is worth making a diversion of a further 300 metres to the bridge over the Halbammer. The unspoiled river bed and a barbecue area make this the ideal spot to stop and relax for a while.

Return via the same route. Expect motorised traffic between Altenau and Unternogg if the weather is fine.
