Customs in Bad Kohlgrub

Charcoal burning days

how our charcoal is created

Charcoal Burning Days in the Ammergau Alps

Everyone pours it on their grill, but no one thinks about where it actually comes from: the charcoal!

It is the product of the charcoal burning process, which has a long tradition in Bad Kohlgrub.

The charcoal burner ran an unpopular business. The overexploitation of the forest, his activity away from settlements and his rather unsightly appearance placed the charcoal burner on the fringes of society.

The Klassiktage Ammergauer Alpen festival delights its audience with music every year. Outstanding musicians delight with their excellently arranged classical pieces.
Immerse yourself in mind- and heart-filling chamber music, played in one of the most beautiful spots in Bavaria: in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park, south of Munich.

Traditional Christmas market

give Christmas presents

Many illuminated stalls at a Christmas market.

The traditional Bad Kohlgruber Christmas market has been taking place for decades on the 2nd Sunday of Advent instead. All goods and food are homemade.

The Bad Kohlgruber market has always had a special atmosphere and, above all, a big heart for people who are not doing so well. 100% of the proceeds from the market go to charity.
