For the sixth time, this initiative invites participants to experience hiking in a different way. It's not just about summit views and exercise in the fresh air – it's also about actively taking responsibility. Equipped with grabbers and trash bags, participants become nature conservationists, collecting carelessly discarded litter along their route. In this way, every hike becomes a visible contribution to preserving this unique landscape.
A day in the mountains – as individual as you are
What makes Valley Green Up special: There's no fixed starting signal and no set route. Instead, participants can choose from around 40 tours – from relaxed walks in the valley to more challenging mountain hikes with panoramic views. Whether alone, with friends, or family: Everyone can plan their day at their own pace. Start early, take it easy, or be athletically ambitious – anything is possible.
Start the day well equipped
To ensure everyone can get started right away, all participants will receive a free starter kit before the event begins. This includes garbage bags, a handy grabber, and other useful equipment.

At the Oberammergau Tourist Information Office (between 7 am and 12 pm)
At the Bad Kohlgrub Tourist Information Office (between 9 am and 12 pm)

Collecting together – simply organized
Collected trash can be dropped off at designated collection points located at the trailhead parking areas – where the hikes begin or end. These points are marked with the Valley Green Up logo. Larger items that are difficult to carry don't need to be transported by the hikers themselves: simply report them, and the organizing team will collect them.
More than just collecting trash: experiencing community
After an active day in nature, there's a great opportunity to share your experiences. Participants can gather in a relaxed atmosphere for an open get-together between 14 and 16 pm. Over food and conversation, everyone can wind down the day together – regardless of the route taken or how long they were out.
An initiative with impact
Valley Green Up was launched in 2021 by Ammergauer Alpen GmbH, Naturpark Ammergauer Alpen eV, König Ludwig Lauf eV, and the Ziener company. Its central idea is to combine the use and protection of the landscape. Only when people consciously experience and appreciate nature will they be willing to preserve it for the long term.
