On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Ammergau Alps Nature Park was once again all about unity, environmental awareness, and active nature conservation. Under the motto "ZAMM ZAMM'RAMMA, ZAMM'HOITN, ZAMM'HELFEN" (Together, Together, Together Helping), the "Valley Green Up" clean-up campaign took place for the fifth time – an initiative of the Ammergau Alps Nature Park in cooperation with the König Ludwig Lauf eV (King Ludwig Run Association).
Nearly 100 motivated participants from the region and beyond set out in all the Ammer Valley communities, as well as on the surrounding hiking trails and mountain routes, to rid nature of carelessly discarded trash. Equipped with a sustainable starter kit – including a bamboo grabber, a cornstarch trash bag, granola bars , and other practical tools – they hiked, collected litter, and cleaned up.
The trip revealed not only the scenic beauty of the region, but also some rather unusual finds: for example, parts of a car taillight were discovered in the middle of the forest . Most frequently, however – and unfortunately not surprisingly – cigarette butts and tissues were found along the roadside.
After the litter collection campaign, the social part began: At the get-together at the clubhouse of the König Ludwig Lauf, all helpers were able to exchange ideas over food and drinks, present their most curious finds and look back together on the successful day.
Both the organizers and the participants drew an overwhelmingly positive conclusion. The event demonstrates how much can be achieved when people work together – for a cleaner environment and greater environmental awareness . But even more important than cleaning up is the appeal to everyone: Don't leave trash in nature in the first place!
