On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Ammergau Alps Nature Park was once again all about solidarity, environmental awareness, and active nature conservation. Under the motto “ZAMM ZAMM'RAMMA, ZAMM'HOITN, ZAMM'HELFEN” The “Valley Green Up” clean-up campaign took place for the fifth time – an initiative of the Ammergau Alps Nature Park in cooperation with the King Ludwig Lauf eV

Knapp 100 motivated participants from the region and beyond set out in all Ammertal communities as well as on the surrounding hiking trails and mountain routes to rid nature of carelessly discarded waste. Equipped with a sustainable starter kit – including a bamboo grabber, a cornstarch garbage bag, muesli bars and other practical helpers – we hiked, collected and tidied up.

Not only the scenic beauty of the region was revealed, but also some bizarre finds: For example, Parts of a car taillight in the middle of the forest discovered. However, the most common – unfortunately not surprisingly – Cigarette butts and tissues on the roadside.

After the garbage collection, the social part began: Get-together at the clubhouse of the King Ludwig Run All helpers were able to exchange ideas over food and drinks, present their most curious finds and look back together on the successful day.

Both the organizers and the participants drew a consistently positive conclusion. The event shows how much can be achieved when people work together – for a clean nature and greater environmental awarenessBut even more important than cleaning up is the appeal to everyone: Don’t leave any garbage in nature in the first place!
