The occasion for the meeting is the death of Karl Gustav Ehrlicher, a supposedly wealthy man. He had been married four times and was about to be married a fifth time. But that never happened.
He died completely unexpectedly. An initial examination revealed that the cause of death was cardiovascular failure. Because there is reasonable suspicion that foul play may have occurred, the body was taken to the... Forensic medicine.

According to his will, all his former wives are to come to his house immediately after his death if they wish to inherit anything. Anyone who is not there and does not fulfill their assigned task will be excluded from the inheritance.
This sets the stage for a "wonderful" argument.
