star tour

This custom differs from the "star singers" who in other places usually go from house to house singing on the eve of Epiphany on January 6th. 

In oberammergau On the last evening of the year at 19 p.m., locals and guests gather at the Ammergauer Haus for the "Star Tour".
The procession with its many colorful lanterns stops at representative places in the town to sing traditional star songs, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, to welcome the New Year.

The conclusion at each of the stations is the "fanfare" of the band and the loud, collective call: "A good new year" (in German: Happy New Year!).
