Lisa Kreitmeir - Painting Village Life

Special exhibition: 07.06.2025 - 01.02.2026

The Oberammergau artist and naive painter Lisa Kreitmeir loved telling stories. And the trained theater seamstress and later innkeeper at the Brunnenkopf and Kolbensattel mountain huts certainly had no shortage of stories. In painting, she found a very special way to capture stories.

Her numerous colorful paintings often depict everyday village life: forestry work in the snow is depicted, as is a family trying to get the hay home in time, while lightning flashes in the background. In addition to everyday work, Sunday trips to the swimming lake and the legendary carnival party, where a cow was the guest of honor in the hall, also find their place. Kreitmeir also captured her trips to Tunisia and Corsica in her meticulously detailed paintings.

To mark Kreitmeir's 90th birthday, the Oberammergau Museum is exhibiting a collection of over 100 of the artist's works. The attention to detail, the vibrant colors, and, not least, their approachability make these works vivid and guaranteed to stimulate the imagination.
