Castles
Neuschwanstein Castle was commissioned King Ludwig II. built from 1868.

The foundation stone was laid on September 5, 1869. In the tradition of Ludwig I, the building plan, a portrait of the builder and coins from his reign were placed in the foundation stone.

Shortly after his death Neuschwanstein Castle made available to the public and has since provided an impressive insight into the world of Fairytale King Ludwig II.

Because of its spectacular location, this fascinating architectural work of art captivates more than a million visitors every year. Come and let yourself be carried away into the royal fairytale world.
