Our mountain railways in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park

Whether you're starting a hike in the Alps or simply enjoying the mountain panorama in one of Bavaria's beautiful mountain huts: There are three mountain railways available in the Ammergau Alps that will take you high up on the most beautiful tours.

Piston chairlift

The Kolben chairlift, operated as a double chairlift, leads from the valley station in Oberammergau to the mountain station at Kolbensattel. Once you arrive at Kolbensattel, there is something for all ages: the rustic Kolbensattelhütte, a bike park with 6 trails, an adventure playground, two archery courses and the Alpine Coaster, the world's longest weatherproof toboggan run with magnetic brakes.

  • Opening: 1992

  • Length: 1764 m

  • Journey time: approx. 12 minutes

Laber mountain railway

The nostalgic mountain railway takes you up to 1684 meters up the Laber, the local mountain of the Oberammergau region. It is the last large-cabin, two-cable gondola in the world still in operation. Enjoy the sun terrace of the mountain restaurant “Die Laberei” with a view of the Zugspitze or hike on safe paths to Soila See and the Ettaler Manndl.
