The tour up the Ettaler Manndl and down over the Soil Lake to Oberammergau is a must for every mountain hiker in the Bavarian Alps.
The beginning on Ettal Monastery and the view from the Ettaler Manndl Zugspitze massif form a rare one in the German Alpine region Harmony between natural spectacle and cultural monument.

Directions
From the parking lot at the cemetery you walk past the show dairy in Ettal. You will soon take a forest road further into the mountain forest. The forest road ends and turns into a narrow hiking path. About the Tiefental forest hut hike in steep switchbacks continue up the mountain to the entry point below the large one Boulders of the Ettaler Manndl.
During the first few meters on the rock, test whether you feel safe on the way to the summit (Via ferrata set is recommended). You climb up into the small gap on fixed wire ropes, then follow a ledge of rock up to the left through the wall and finally climb directly and steeply to the Pre-summit, the Ettal woman, up.
It's only a few steps over the gap and a short gully to the summit cross. The supporting link chain is firmly attached throughout, but is not suitable for self-belaying. Safely down again and back on the main path, turn left to the intermediate destination Soila-Alm.
You only get to one idyllic Karsee, the Soilasee. From here you can reach the Soila-Alm in just a few minutes. The romantic one Oil-Alpine pastures are also open for business in summer when the weather is nice.
After a short rest, walk into the valley towards Oberammergau, past the valley station Laber mountain railway to Aufackerstrasse. There you turn left and walk out of the village through the town, which you then follow Vogelherdweg Leave towards Ettal. The path winds along the main road, slightly up the mountain to the starting point in Ettal.
