High-altitude circular hiking trail starting in Wurmansau with fantastic 360° panorama.

Starting in Wurmansau, this trail leads to the Hörnle, or more precisely, to the Zeitberg. The Zeitberg , the hill directly next to the Hörnle Hut, offers impressive views of the Bavarian Alpine foothills, the Ammergau Alps, the Wetterstein Mountains with the Zugspitze, and beyond.

The tour can be combined with the circular route at Hörnle : Between Zeitberg and the rear Hörnle, an educational trail provides information at various stations about the topics of prehistory (formation of the Alps), breeding season (Alpine birds), grazing season (agriculture in the Alps) and generation time (time for animals to develop in the mountain climate).

All stations also offer opportunities for relaxation . For this purpose, a 3D nature cinema , sun loungers in the form of peat baths, reading chairs , a games table , and massage tables have been set up here.

Directions

For this tour, follow the orange sign with the number 23 on the hiking signs.

From the starting point, you first walk through Wurmansau, past the chapel and the Amerrock bouldering hall. Follow the hiking signs towards Kappel. After about 1 kilometer, you reach a junction where several hiking trails diverge. Here, the ascent to the Hörnle and the Zeitberg begins on the left.

The route to the Hörnle leads partly along forest roads, partly along hiking trails and root-covered paths to the Zeitberg.

Those who wish can extend the tour to include the circular route around the Hörnle. This leads to the three peaks of the Hörnle and back to Zeitberg and the Hörnle Hut in approximately two hours.

The descent follows the so-called winter trail towards Bad Kohlgrub. Follow the hiking signs to Sonnen and then to Kraggenau back to the starting point in Wurmansau.

Alternatively, the descent can also be made easier by taking the Hörnle cable car.

Our recommendation:

Never get lost again - We recommend the free “Zugspitz Region” app with, among other things, GPX tracks for all tours in the region
