Directions
The Kofel (1342 m) is also known by locals as the Oberammergau Matterhorn designated. This striking tine is a promising intermediate destination on our way to Kolbensattelhütte.
From the valley station of the Piston chairlift In Oberammergau you first go past the bike park to Grotto path and continue until Döttenbichl.
At Döttenbichl, past a large clearing, turn diagonally right across a meadow up to a bench in the forest. From here the path goes in numerous serpentines steeply up the mountain forest. You reach it over a scree and past rock faces Kofel Saddle. From here the more demanding part of the tour begins. After a few minutes the first ones begin passages secured by wire ropes, which offer helpful support up to the summit of the Kofel. The effort is worth it. After about 20 minutes, the summit of the Kofel is reached via the via ferrata.
The descent takes place again via the small one Via Ferrata Sets to the Kofelsattel. From here it goes over the Königssteig on a beautiful one High-altitude panoramic path to the Kolbensattelhütte. After a stop at the Kolbensattelhütte, it takes about an hour to return to the parking lot. You can also choose the Alpine Coaster for a quick descent.
