Around 85 km long long-distance hiking trail from the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Wieskirche through the Ammertal to Linderhof Castle in the Graswangtal. Several stages connect a total of 15 cultural sights and places of power in nature.

Attention wildlife sanctuary from 15.12 – 30.04 Ascent summer variant to the Hörnle peaks. In winter, please use the variant from Unterammergau directly to Oberammergau via Romanshöhe.

The approximately 85 km route is to be completed in several daily stages. The individual stations of the meditation path are suitable as sections:

Wieskirche - Rottenbuch Monastery - 10,5 km

Rottenbuch Monastery - Soier See - 10,1 km

Soier See - Scheibum - 10,7 km

Scheibum - Fatima Chapel - 4,1 km  

Fatima Chapel - Rochusfeld - 2,6 km

Rochusfeld - Kappel pilgrimage church - 9 km

Kappel pilgrimage church - Hörnle - 4,2 km
(This stage is only accessible in summer! In winter you follow the Wiesmahdweg and at Romanshöhe you get back onto the signposted meditation path to the next station "Passionstheater". This alternative is of course also possible in summer for everyone who avoids the climb to the Hörnle want.)

From Wieskirche in Steingaden to Linderhof Palace The Ammergau Alps meditation path leads through the Graswangtal. The meditation path winds past churches, chapels, historical places and natural beauties through the hilly foothills of the Ammergau Alps. The 15 stations of the meditation path serve as an incentive to meditate and pause, gain strength and rest. Information boards here stimulate your thoughts and send you on your way.

Arrival & Parking

The Ammergau Alps Nature Park can be easily reached by train from Munich. In Murnau you get on the regional train (Ammertalbahn) and after a journey with fantastic views of the Alps you reach the towns of Bad Kohlgrub, Saulgrub, Altenau, Unterammergau and Oberammergau.
