Meditation path Ammergau Alps: 02nd daily stage through the Ammerschlucht to Bad Kohlgrub

From the parking lot at the Sunbathing lawn at Soier See Walk left to the tributary of the lake, cross it and go left along the stream back to the village street and into the town center.

You leave Bad Bayersoien and walk along Dorfstrasse to the right in a northerly direction to the Ludwigstrasse intersection. Follow this to the left, cross the bridge over the B23 and initially continue in a curve to the right.

You continue to orientate yourself on Signpost to Soyermühle. Once you have reached the bottom of the Ammer, use the bridge to the opposite bank.

Here at the Soyermühle, turn right further up the mountain and initially follow the signposts Kreut and after Hargenwies.

After Hargenwies you first walk on Edge of the forest and later again through the forest towards Kammerl. After crossing one Iron bridge You are standing directly in front of the Kammerl power plant and continue to the left down the hill to the Ammer Bridge. Then go to the left Scheibum, a rock breakthrough in the Ammer.

 From there you walk back up the asphalt road and after a few minutes you reach the Gasthaus Acheleschwaig. Shortly after the property, turn left off the road onto a farm track. Immediately afterwards take the path that takes you to the left Böhmerweiher directs.

Here you continue the hike and come to an intersection where you continue to the right. On the meadow path on the left you get to Fatima Chapel.

A small meadow path leads back to the hiking trail from the Fatima Chapel. Here you turn left and come to another intersection from which the old Roman road in a hollow path to the right leads down to Saulgrub. Continue left on the village road and reach the Franciscan Church.

Continue following the village road until you reach Kirchfeld district. In the residential area, take the third street from the right. Then you cross the main road over a bridge and, with a slight gradient, you reach the Saulgruber mill. You now walk past it on the left and reach the other side of a stream over an iron bridge. At the next intersection keep left again and at the next fork turn right. After another 100 m, turn right again and after a few steps you will find yourself in the Bad Kohlgruber Moorstich Rochusfeld. Here you can visit the moor nature trail and relax on the wooden lounger by the small moor pond.

Before the pedestrian bridge, turn left and walk across Adele Gerhard Street to the Rochus Chapel, along the cemetery down to the railway line. Cross this, go right for a short distance and then turn left onto St.-Rochus-Straße Parish church of Bad Kohlgrub. One street further is the tourist information office, where the next day's stage begins.

The Ammergau Alps Nature Park can be easily reached by train from Munich. In Murnau you get on the regional train (Ammertalbahn) and after a journey with fantastic views of the Alps you reach the towns of Bad Kohlgrub, Saulgrub, Altenau, Unterammergau and Oberammergau.

We recommend the following parking spaces for multi-day parking:

• Oberammergau car park south/fairground
• Echelsbach Bridge

 The bus routes stop at these parking spaces 9606 and  9622

9606 Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Oberammergau – Wieskirche - Füssen

 Follow the village road towards the east. After 50 meters keep left and follow the path to Bayersoiener See. There is the starting point of the stage.

Guests in the Ammergau Alps region travel free by bus and train with the electronic guest card or KönigsCard.

On the weekends, this stage of the meditation path is worth climbing to Acheleschwaig tavernto fortify yourself in the cozy inn. The inn is open Friday to Monday. Visit the small chapel at the inn. This was built by Mr. Fischer in 2012 and is dedicated to the "14 emergency helpers".
