Directions

From the starting point in Oberammergau, we set off on this family-friendly circular tour towards Ettal Abbey. The route initially follows the idyllic Ammer River on a flat surface, then later climbs gently towards Ettal to the impressive Ettal Basilica. Those who don't want to go to Ettal can turn off towards Ettal Mill. The route then continues through mostly shady forests towards Graswang and on to Linderhof. It's worth planning a longer stop there to take a look at the castle, the Venus Grotto, and the castle grounds. After the tour, it's time to hop back on the saddle. There's a short uphill stretch, but the effort is rewarded with a longer descent – later along the Kohlbach stream. Back in Graswang, the route continues through the forest towards Ettal. From here, you cycle along the Weidmoos stream. Along the path, you can discover many flowers and plants and enjoy the view of the Ammer and Ester Mountains. Back in Oberammergau you can reward yourself for your tour with an ice cream or a hearty meal.
