1,69 km long
Themed tours

The approximately two kilometer long circular route is not a classic themed route with information boards, but rather a radio play adventure tour that is all about the senses.

For orientation purposes, the path is marked at the intersections with a small sign showing a black ear on a purple background. But that's not actually necessary, because the cell phone acts as a guide and accompanies the visitors on their way through the moorland. The senses of “hearing”, “smelling” and “touching” come to the fore, so that the sensory path can also be experienced specifically by visually impaired or blind people.

In the radio play, which was implemented with the provider Locandy, hikers can choose between two variants: The “Torfhund” adventure tour is aimed primarily at families. The “Saulgrub Moor Corpse” tour offers in-depth knowledge transfer for nature and cultural landscape enthusiasts.

“The peat dog of Saulgrub”

All families and children are welcome on this audio play experience tour: While investigating the moor, two scientists unknowingly freed a magical creature - the cursed peat dog. This is now wreaking havoc in the area and stealing the animals' best abilities: their senses. With the app you can experience an exciting tour through the moor and give the animals back their senses.

"The Bog Body of Saulgrub"

This radio play experience tour is for all nature and cultural landscape enthusiasts: you are assistants to an archaeologist and a biologist who have made a sensational discovery during investigations in the raised moor: an ancient bog body. Before you can investigate further, the body has disappeared and you have to solve a few puzzles to find it again. With the app you can experience an exciting tour through the moor.

In order to be able to use the two radio play adventures, the “Locandy” app must be downloaded to the smartphone from the app or Play store. Then scan the QR code of the respective radio play and get started at the starting point of the trail in Saulgrub at the Naturfreundehaus. The stations always open automatically at the respective points along the route via the GPS signal. At the beginning of the radio play “Moocorpe von Saulgrub” you can choose between two versions in the Locandy app: one with and one without assistance. The assistance is precise directions for people with visual impairments; the routes are described in more detail here. There is also the radio play “Moocorpe von Saulgrub” in the “BFW Smartinfo” app, which accompanies the tour and allows you to experience nature with all your senses. Dangerous areas and orientation aids are provided there.

Directions

From the Naturfreundehaus Saulgrub along the railway tracks to an intersection, turn right there and at the next intersection in the forest follow the signs (black ear on a purple background) to the right again. Past the peat hut you go to the road where you go back to the starting point at the Naturfreundehaus. The stations are located along the way and are opened via GPS in the radio play.

safety instructions

The path has been adapted so that visually impaired and blind people can walk alone with the help in the app. Tripping hazards were eliminated, dangerous areas were secured with a railing and round wooden poles were attached to the floor for orientation.
