We've counted them. There are 9 peaks in total. That promises not only a respectable number of summit crosses, but above all one thing: top-notch trail running fun!

From the Ettaler Mühle, the route leads through the Kuhalmschlucht gorge and later always along the summit ridge, for example over the Windstierlkopf or the Notkarspitze.

Directions

The starting point is at the Ettaler Mill. From there, the first 3,5 kilometers follow the Schattenwald forest road until you turn left towards the waterfall. You will then enter the so-called "Kuhalm Gorge" along the Kühalpenbach stream. From here, the trail climbs more steeply. Passing the Kuhalm Hut, continue towards the Windstierlkopf peak. If you'd like to bag a tenth summit, you can make a detour to the Kienjoch. Otherwise, the path leads left towards the Windstierkopf, which is covered in mountain pines. Across a beautiful high plateau with a magnificent view towards the Wetterstein Mountains, the trail continues over more Ammer Valley peaks. After the Brünstelskopf, the trail descends slightly before climbing again towards the 1888m high Notkarspitze. IMPORTANT: There are NO signs between the Brünstelskopf and the Hasenjöchl! The trail descends again via Ziegelspitz and Ochsensitz to the Ettaler Sattel. From there, a wider path leads along the edge of the forest for the last 3 kilometers, offering frequent views of Ettal Abbey, back to the starting point at the Ettaler Mühle. A stop there is highly recommended! You'll have certainly earned it.
