For families, the Ammergau Alps are the ideal destination to explore the nature park itself and the many attractions in the surrounding area. Whether on a hut hike with a rewarding stop, a ride on the summer toboggan run, on a discovery tour of the Junior Rangers, splashing in the lake or on an excursion - boredom? Not a problem!
Accommodation for families

Whether on foot or by bike, there are many attractive routes for families. From hikes with refreshments or tours with cable car assistance to easy scrambles, there's a suitable tour for children of all ages in the nature park. Hiking with children in Bavaria is not just physical exercise, but an experience!
A highlight is the hike to the Piston caliper with Stop at the Kolbensattelhütte and descent with the rapid Alpine CoasterIf you want to go higher, you can extend the hike towards August Schuster House on Pürschling.
If you go up the Zeitberg (approx. 500 meters above sea level), you will be rewarded with a great view, you can relax at the Hörnlehütte and then enjoy the nostalgic Hörnlebahn float back towards the valley.
From Linderhof Castle we head to the Brunnenkopfhäuser (for the hike). Since you have to overcome some altitude on this tour, the tour is suitable for slightly older children. Just like a Tour of the LaberThe latter can be reached by taking a ride on the Laberbahn Daring souls (attention: sure-footedness and a head for heights are absolutely essential) dare to climb the summit of Oberammergau's local mountain - the Kofel.
For families, the Ammertal is ideal for exploring the area by bike. Several attractions can be reached by bike, such as the Linderhof Palace, an Ettal Monastery or the Passion Play town of Oberammergau. The valley paths into the Graswangtal, along the Ammer and the cycle paths around Saulgrub, Bad Bayersoien and Bad Kohlgrub are well developed and therefore also ideal for families. You can leave your bikes at home and rent them at our local dealers rent (often even bike trailers).
