Tobogganing variety in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park - whether a short trip to a toboggan run right on your doorstep or more tobogganing fun in our mountains. In our region you have the choice! In Oberammergau you can take the Kolben chairlift to the Kolbensattel. From there you can whizz down into the valley on a snow-covered toboggan run. The natural track at Hörnle - the Hörnlebahn takes you up to the top - awaits you with a 4,5 km long descent. And if there is no snow, that is no problem either - with the Alpine Coaster of the Aktivarena am Kolben You will be able to make your way back down at speeds of up to 40 km/h. Fun for all ages!

Frequently asked questions about tobogganing at Kolbensattel

Does the coaster at Kolben now run all year round?

Except during maintenance periods, you can use the Alpine Coaster all year round!

Can anyone ride the coaster? 

Pregnant women and children under 3 years of age are not allowed to use the coaster. Children aged 3-8 and under 140 cm tall are allowed to use the coaster with an accompanying adult. Children aged 8 and over 140 cm tall are allowed to ride alone.

Which sled can I use on the toboggan run at Kolben?

The toboggan run at Kolben can be used with sleds. Bobsleighs, plastic steering sleds or similar are not permitted.

Can I rent a sled on site at the Kolben?

Rental sledges are available for hire at the Aktivarena am Kolben.

Can I still go on a ski tour on the Kolben?

The toboggan run and the ski slope (1st tow) are reserved exclusively for tobogganers and skiers during opening hours. Both are closed during preparation work. Ski touring is still possible in open terrain.

Can I still ski on the piston?

There are a total of 7 lifts available at Kolben. These are particularly suitable for families and beginners.
