Tobogganing, coaster riding, enjoying the view!

The mountain railways in the Ammergau Alps

The Alpine Coaster at Kolbensattel is 2,6 km long and is an absolute attraction all year round! It will take you down into the valley at speeds of up to 40 km/h, climbing 400 meters in altitude! You can get to Kolbensattel either with the Kolben chairlift or on foot on a hike lasting a good hour. Once you're at the top, you can fortify yourself in the Kolbensattel hut. The artificially snow-covered toboggan run is guaranteed to have snow and often guarantees tobogganing fun even when it no longer looks like winter in the valley. Skiing is also often possible on the snow-covered slopes (a total of 1 lifts for beginners and a snow park at the Wanklifts).

All information about the current conditions can be found on the Aktivarena website.

There is a snow-covered ski slope on Steckenberg in Unterammergau. Information about the current conditions can be found here: Steckenberg website

Great panoramic mountains are also the Hörnle or the Laber. A cable car takes you up to both. From the top you have a great view of the Alpine foothills as far as Munich or the mountains of the Ammergau Alps, the Estergebirge or the Wetterstein Mountains as far as the Zugspitze. And the best thing: in the Hörnle hut or the Laberei you can enjoy a hearty snack, a delicious Kaiserschmarrn and many other Bavarian delicacies. On the Hörnle you can also - weather permitting - go for a hike or Snowshoe hike from the mountain station to the front, middle and rear Hörnle as well as to the Stierkopf. This way you can immerse yourself even more in the mountain idyll of the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
