Enjoy a ride with the historically nostalgic cable car in Oberammergau up the Laber. Take to the top of the Laber, a comfortable cable car up to a height of 1684 m from the Oberammergauer district of St. Gregor.
The Laber, Oberammergau’s very own mountain whilst not one of the highest peaks in the Bavarian Alps certainly is the one with the best view!
From here you have a panoramic view, as if from a balcony, into the beginnings of the Alps with its many lakes. In good weather conditions you can see beyond Munich in northerner direction. Whilst the Ester Mountains with Wank, Fricken and Krottenkopf, the Wetterstein-mountains ad the Ammergau Alps are forming from the East and over to the South there is an impressive Mountain arena.
After this visual feast you can care for your physical well being in the mountain restaurant and recover for numerous hiking trails. The good cuisine of Martina Höchbauer in the Peak-Inn invites you to take a light meal, whilst you also can enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Note for KöingsCard holders: 1 x free ascent and descent (daily to the regular operating times)
The Ettaler Manndl (although only for trained people!) is easily reachable from the Laber. And the descent via the Soila Lake offers impressive wonders of nature.
In winter the Laber is one of the most sophisticated ski areas of Bavaria, and is an area that especially, the free riders appreciate very much; even the medium-heavy valley run can only be recommended for trained skiers. The hiking trails are closed in winter.
