Rottenbuch Monastery is a former monastery Augustinian Canons' Monastery and was founded 900 years ago.

Rottenbuch became the spiritual ruler over the Ammertal and the Werdenfelser Land. The canons who lived there determined ecclesiastical and secular life until secularization in 1803. The basilical scheme of the church, which was built soon after it was founded, has been preserved, although it was significantly changed in the 18th century by the Wessobrunn plasterer Josef Schmuzer. Nevertheless, the medieval idea of space still has an effect.

What is unusual for the Bavarian region is the construction of a crossing transept and the exemption of the tower. The frescoes The interior design is one of Matthäus Günther's best works. The excessive stuccoing seems to displace all other forms of architecture, the idea of Bavarian Church Rococo is optimally realized.
