16,21 km long
Cycling

A themed trail run by the Bavarian State Forests to get to know the mountain forest and its use - by e-bike from Ettal Monastery to Linderhof Castle!

Seven large-format wooden frames, placed along the route along the side of the path, draw the visitor's eye to characteristic features of the forest and forest use. The range of topics ranges from forestry, nature conservation and hunting to wood utilization in the form of shingles, lumber and the production of charcoal.

In order not to have to cover the 14 km long route on foot, we recommend taking this tour with a bicycle or an e-bike. You cycle through the idyllic Graswangtal via the Waldblickweg and experience not only the forest itself, but also exciting insights into its diverse tasks.

Directions

The tour starts at Ettal Monastery. To start the tour, we have to follow the hiking signs in the direction of Graswang or Linderhof. We leave Ettal and cycle away from traffic towards Graswang. We always stay at the edge of the forest and don't cross the road at the Ettaler Mühle! In winter, participants in the King Ludwig Run run along the same route. We follow the path to Graswang. Just before Graswang and the bridge, turn left and continue following the road. Now we go a little longer through the shady forests, which offers real refreshment in the summer heat, until we reach a dry stream bed. Here we have to turn right and continue following the path. We cross the stream bed on a bridge on the state road! Continue following the signs towards Linderhof. Shortly before Linderhof Castle we have to cross the street and we have reached our destination!

There is also the option to charge your e-bike in the catering industry.

To get back to Ettal you can take the same route. But there are also other options such as the Sonnenweg to Graswang and then continue following the signs towards Ettal.
