We are looking for you

as a ranger (m/f/d) for the Ammergau Alps Nature Park

 

conditions:

  • Employment at the Ammergauer Alpen Nature Park eV (at least 30 hours/week)
  • from July 2024
  • Limited to 3 years with the possibility of further employment

 

Your tasks:

  • Advice and information for those seeking relaxation, athletes and other leisure users on nature-friendly recreation

  • Advising land managers on special habitats and species as well as on the implementation of landscape conservation measures

  • Implementation of environmental education programs (with children and adults) with a focus on the biological diversity of the Alpine region and the services of land users to preserve the cultural landscape

  • Implementation of nature conservation projects and visitor guidance concepts in close coordination with the lower nature conservation authority

  • Media work (writing press releases, supporting journalists at external events)

  • Monitoring of key species for nature conservation in cooperation with the State Office for the Environment and nature conservation associations

  • Intensive cooperation with the nature park communities, the member associations of the nature park association and other key nature conservation and tourism stakeholders on the above-mentioned topics of visitor support and information on the natural area, the cultural landscape, the diverse forms of land use and nature conservation issues

 

Your profile:

  • a completed university degree (bachelor's degree or engineer's degree) in the field of biology, landscape ecology, ecology, geography or comparable course of study or comparable (green) training occupation with professional experience (farmer, forester, etc.)

  • a resilient, team- and communication-capable personality who is characterized by a flexible, cooperative and goal-oriented way of working and who has organizational talent as well as a confident and authoritative demeanor, negotiation skills and assertiveness

  • Good knowledge of flora and fauna, extensive basic knowledge of the landscape ecology of a mountain region (e.g. forms of land use, cultural landscape development) and areas of conflict between recreational use (e.g. mountain biking), demands of land users and species sensitive to disturbance

  • Willingness to work in the evenings, weekends or public holidays

  • the physical ability to be present in the field all year round, even under difficult weather conditions

  • Completed GNL training would be an advantage

  • Experience in environmental education an advantage

  • Knowledge of the use of geographical information systems, Arc-GIS/ArcView knowledge is an advantage

  • Knowledge of the regional conditions and structures in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park is an advantage

  • Driving license class B
