Junior Ranger on Discovery Tour 2026

Holiday program for locals and guest children

For three weeks in August, from Monday to Friday, children explore the Ammergau Alps Nature Park as part of the summer holiday program “Junior Ranger on a Discovery Tour”. Always on the lookout for animals and plants, the Junior Rangers explore the forests, the mountain stream, the moor and the species-rich meadows of the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.

Tourists and local children aged 7-10 are welcome to participate. It's possible to book a whole week or individual days at the adventure shop. For guests who book accommodation (minimum 5 nights) through our website, the program can be added free of charge when booking the accommodation.

Program 2026

  • From 03.08.2026 – 21.08.2026 every Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 15:00
  • A daily changing program with different thematic focuses over three weeks
  • In case of very bad weather, rooms are available in the nature park schools.

Moor days

We explore the mystical bogs of the nature park. We learn what a bog is, where it comes from, and what you can do with it.

Forest days

Today we're lacing up our hiking boots and heading into the woods! Together, we'll explore a section of forest in the local area and try to spot its inhabitants – frogs, lizards, birds, and more. We'll attempt to build a shelter and learn how to protect animals and plants.

Water Days

When temperatures climb relentlessly and we long for some relief from the heat, this day becomes a water adventure! We'll explore the region's streams and, equipped with cups and magnifying glasses, try to discover the little creatures that live along the river. Of course, fun and games are also on the agenda: splashing around to your heart's content is encouraged after a game!

Meadow Animals Day

Together, we'll search for wild animals and their tracks along the wild river or at the edge of the forest and village – beavers, badgers, deer, hares, and squirrels live there. A quiz and a treasure hunt will guarantee there's never a dull moment! Good footwear and a little patience are recommended for this day.
