Ski touring

The piste tour on the Kolbensattel became known as the first snow-covered ski touring piste in Germany. A separate snow-covered ascent track has been created at the edge of the piste for tourers.

A separate ascent track was created at the edge of the piste, which avoids conflicts and dangers between piste tourers and skiers. At one point a tunnel was specially created through which the ascent track crosses the piste.

Due to the possibility of snowmaking, snow is guaranteed. There is no danger of avalanches on the designated ascent path. The descent takes place on the ski slope.

The ascent ends at the Kolbensattelhütte. It is possible to climb up to the tooth in open terrain.

This tour was developed as part of the “environmentally friendly ski mountaineering” project German Alpine Club for the year 2015 in collaboration with local representatives (forestry, hunting and farmers).

Directions

From the top step parking lot at Kolbensattel, follow this signposted ski touring nature trail up to the Kolbensattelhütte. The path leads on the left side of the ski slope up to a tunnel. After the tunnel you go into the mountain forest before it leads you back into open terrain just before the hut.

The descent into the valley leads via the Ski slopes of the family ski area Piston caliper.
