Cancellation of the “King Ludwig Run 2024” - These are your cross-country skiing alternatives

We have summarized some cross-country skiing alternatives for the weekend for you here. And if you would like to go on the cross-country ski trail, there are two groomed routes available!

 

1. Cross-country skiing in Ettal

If you don't want to miss out on cross-country skiing fun, you have the opportunity in Ettal to put on your classic or skating skis on a 500-600 meter long circuit (behind the Ettaler Mühle) with a built-in slope. There is also a prepared cross-country ski trail through the shadow forest with a length of 3,5-4 km in the forest between Ettal and Graswang.

 

2. Winter hiking

The winter hikes in the Ammergau Alps extend through all places in the nature park on a network of paths of around 120 kilometers. Numerous well-marked hiking trails invite you to exercise in the cool winter air.

You can largely combine your winter hikes with visits to cultural sights and thus explore the region culturally and actively.

3. Cycling

Cycling in winter? Yes, that's possible, especially in mild winters like right now, you can explore the Ammergau Alps Nature Park perfectly on a bike.

Whether it's a touring bike, e-bike, mountain bike or gravel bike, everything is possible.

4. Pure culture

In the Ammergau Alps Nature Park you will not only find beautiful hiking and cycling trails and cross-country ski trails, but also real cultural highlights.

It's worth a visit Linderhof Palace, King Ludwig's favorite castle, or the one nearby Ettal Monastery. Guided tours of Linderhof Castle are offered daily. In Ettal Monastery you can visit the impressive baroque basilica.
